Welcome to Birthright of Columbia
Our Philosophy
Our History
Birthright began in Toronto, Canada, in 1968, when Louise Summerhill, a busy wife and mother of seven children, felt something should be done to help women facing unplanned pregnancies. Twelve years later, in 1980, Hank and Sally Chardos opened the Columbia SC chapter, now one of about 250 locations served by Birthright International.
Our Ministry
We offer friendship and caring, non-judgmental support to anyone facing an unplanned or problem pregnancy. Assistance includes free and confidential pregnancy tests, maternity and baby clothes, and information and referrals for medical, financial, education, and housing needs. All are available to anyone regardless of age, race, creed, or marital status.
