The Board of Directors of Birthright of Columbia is pleased to announce that Rebekah Shilling will be its next Executive Director, replacing retiring Executive Director, Terry Hodaly.

Rebekah Shilling has spent more than 15 years supporting families across South Carolina in the areas of maternal and child health, early development, and community support. Her work has included prenatal and postpartum case management, fatherhood engagement programming, and statewide initiative leadership. She has led regional learning collaboratives to bring further knowledge to Community Health Workers across the Southeast, helped in the founding of the Men’s National CHW Alliance, and assists in training Community Based Doulas across South Carolina.

Rebekah Shilling

Rebekah holds a master’s degree in counseling psychology and a graduate certificate in Play Therapy, along with multiple certifications in family planning, postpartum support, lactation counseling, child passenger safety, infant massage, and community health. Her passion for compassionate, judgment-free care is shaped not only by her professional experience, but also by her own journey. During a vulnerable season of her life, Rebekah received support from Birthright, an experience that deepened her faith and reminded her that children are truly a blessing, and women are not meant to walk through pregnancy alone.

Outside of work, Rebekah enjoys hiking, spending time with her son, and caring for her pets. She is grateful for the opportunity to serve at Birthright and to help families and communities thrive through faith, support, and practical care.

We are excited to see where Rebekah will lead us.
